Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) sends Mel Gibson’s wandering Max Rockatansky into Bartertown, a desert settlement ruled by Aunty Entity, played by Tina Turner. After becoming entangled in the town’s brutal power struggle and its gladiatorial Thunderdome, Max discovers a group of children living beyond the settlement. Co-directed by George Miller and George Ogilvie, the third Mad Max film broadens the series’ mythology with memorable characters, inventive wasteland settings, and an emphasis on the possibility of rebuilding after collapse. This US-version movie poster commemorates a distinctive chapter in the original trilogy.
