Ice Palace (1960) features Richard Burton, Robert Ryan and Carolyn Jones. Two ambitious men arrive in Alaska and build competing visions for the territory’s future. Their rivalry affects businesses, families and political loyalties as the region moves toward statehood. Richard Burton and Robert Ryan lead this sweeping drama adapted from Edna Ferber’s novel. Against the backdrop of Alaska’s dramatic landscapes, the story links personal ambition to the larger struggle over development, identity and control of a rapidly changing frontier.
