Spencer Tracy stars as Stanley Banks, a father overwhelmed by the preparations for his daughter’s wedding, in this comedy directed by Vincente Minnelli. Elizabeth Taylor plays the bride-to-be, Kay, while Joan Bennett portrays her mother, Ellie. As guest lists, expenses, and social expectations multiply, Stanley struggles to reconcile his affection for Kay with his growing anxiety about the approaching ceremony. The film finds humor in ordinary family disagreements and the rituals surrounding marriage. Tracy’s performance gives the story a warm, relatable center amid the escalating wedding chaos.
