Warner Oland returns as detective Charlie Chan in this 1936 mystery directed by H. Bruce Humberstone, with Boris Karloff appearing as an opera singer connected to a dangerous case. A murder investigation unfolds amid the performers and backstage corridors of an opera house. The story brings together theatrical intrigue, mistaken impressions, and Chan’s patient search for clues. Released by Twentieth Century-Fox, the film combines a familiar detective series with a striking guest star from classic horror cinema. Its unusual operatic setting gives the mystery a distinctive stage.
