Becket (1964) is a historical drama directed by Peter Glenville and starring Richard Burton as Thomas Becket and Peter O'Toole as England's King Henry II. Adapted from Jean Anouilh's stage play, the film traces a friendship transformed by conflicting loyalties after Becket becomes Archbishop of Canterbury. John Gielgud also appears in the cast. Royal authority and religious conscience collide as the relationship between the two men deteriorates. With its commanding performances and political tension, the film dramatizes a defining confrontation in medieval English history.
