Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward star in this 1963 romantic comedy directed by Melville Shavelson, with Thelma Ritter in the supporting cast. The story brings an American journalist and a fashion-industry professional together in Paris, where initial misunderstandings gradually develop into romantic complications. Fashion shows and the city’s lively social world provide a colorful backdrop for their exchanges. The film plays with mistaken impressions, shifting identities, and the tension between work and personal life. Its Paris setting and charismatic leads give this comedy a distinctive early-sixties style.
