A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) features James Cagney, Olivia de Havilland and Mickey Rooney. Lovers, amateur actors and mischievous fairies collide in an enchanted forest during a single magical night. Confused affections and supernatural tricks send the characters through a series of comic reversals before order returns. This lavish Warner Bros. adaptation of Shakespeare features James Cagney as Bottom and Mickey Rooney as Puck. Elaborate sets and dance sequences bring a distinctly 1930s Hollywood spectacle to the fantasy.
