Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and Boris Karloff star in this 1963 fantasy-horror comedy directed by Roger Corman. Inspired by the title of Edgar Allan Poe’s famous poem, the story follows rival magicians whose schemes and transformations lead to a series of strange confrontations. Hazel Court and a young Jack Nicholson also appear in the cast. The film mixes gothic settings with playful dialogue, magical rivalries, and an unusually lighthearted approach to the Poe-inspired horror cycle. Its charismatic ensemble gives the supernatural adventure a lively theatrical quality.
